The UpTake is opening up a call for Opinion/Editorial videos. To kick this off, I am happy to say, they have brought me in to provide regular video commentary for them. We do not have a name for the show yet, and look forward to hearing ideas for the show’s name from the audience (leave your ideas in the comments). We also hope that more people feel inspired to send us “video op/eds”. To do just that, follow these instructions:

Is it possible that in this historic election that the first debate featuring McBama was actually overshadowed by other news? As lawmakers prepare to vote on the $700 billion dollar bailout (and McCain maneuvers to take the credit), the House approves a trillion dollars in spending- not for the bailout, but to expand the empire.

A few people actually put their money where their mouth is, so to speak, when it comes to speaking out against the war, but most people just can’t spare a bowel movement. Others, exhausted by the marathon election cycle (I mean- I stopped working for Kucinich when his campaign shut down- 9 months ago!) have finally reached the breaking point and will go to any length not to discuss politics.

Al-Queda is not going anywhere, GWB is singing his swan song, and the GOP may have to fire this bitch soon, if stuff like this keeps popping up.

I’d say the next month is going to be pretty wild. Hold onto your hat as The Hermit breaks it all down for you.

Al-Qaeda not weakening – BBC poll

Story from BBC NEWS: US-led efforts to tackle the al-Qaeda group are not regarded as successful, an opinion poll carried out for the BBC World Service suggests.

Some 29% of people said the “war on terror” launched by President George W Bush in 2001 had had no effect on the Islamist militant network.

Less Than Half the World Believes al Qaeda Was Behind 9/11 Attacks

An international poll released this week by the Project on International Policy Attitudes (PIPA) found that outside the United States, many are skeptical that al Qaeda was really responsible for the Sept. 11 attacks.

Sixteen thousand people in 17 countries — allies and adversaries in Asia, Europe, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East — were asked the open-ended question: “Who do you think was behind the 9/11 attacks?”

On average, fewer than half of all respondents said al Qaeda (although there was significant variation between countries and regions). Fifteen percent said the United States government itself was responsible for the attacks, 7 percent cited Israel, and fully 1 in 4 said they just didn’t know.

Al-Qaeda in Iraq Leader May Be in Afghanistan
