see all posts from Alex W From Alex: A video containing my opinions on the relationship between current developments in the Israel-Palestine conflict and the international political climate and the long-lasting negative effects of the rhetoric and false logic used to justify American aggression and war crimes. Visual material is from a variety of different sources; these are current events portrayed in a manner I believe to be consistent with fair use. Update: Barack Obama, immediately following his inauguration, has started to reverse some of the illegal policies of the previous administration, but has not taken a stand against the use of white phosphorus or uranium “bunker busters” in civilian areas.

According to Liberal Viewer- When John McCain appeared in the opening segment of Saturday Night Live last night with Tina Fey reprising her SNL role as Sarah Palin, I thought McCain ended up looking weak, ridiculous, and worst of all, like a loser as I show with the clips in this video.
I disagree- I thought McCain was funny, displayed a good sense of humor about himself and got in some points. The skit dis not make McCain look like a loser. In my opinion, it made him look like a gut who can laugh. Don’t mistake my high marks for McCain on SNL with an endorsement. I would not elect this guy to the PTA, never mind president
As a statement of solidarity with the lesbian and gay community, BRAD PITT has said that he will not marry Angelina Jolie until GAY MARRIAGE IS MADE LEGAL in the United States. Supporting Proposition 8 in California, Brad Pitt is taking a stand in the Culture War, what are you going to do? Join me, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Post your ideas on how we can re-ignite and win the cultural wars- a non-violent war of ideas that moves past political correctness and affects the behaviors and beliefs (one definition of culture) and pushes religious extremists to the fringes of society to wallow in the shadow of shame and embarrassment currently occupied by the followers of ZUES, men over 40 who play dungeons and dragons, and scientologists. Post your ideas in the comments. Ill take the best 3 ideas & make a follow up video- another STUDENT CHALLENGE, if you will. MORE HERMIT

So called FRINGE PEOPLE in Maryland started receiving letters from the state police yesterday that read something like- Um, you have been on a terror watch list for the past few years, but we wanna take you off, can you come on down to talk about it? (continued below video)
As reported in yesterdays WASHINGTON POST, “The Maryland State Police classified 53 nonviolent activists as terrorists and entered their names and personal information into state and federal databases that track terrorism suspects, the state police chief acknowledged yesterday.”
Is it possible that in this historic election that the first debate featuring McBama was actually overshadowed by other news? As lawmakers prepare to vote on the $700 billion dollar bailout (and McCain maneuvers to take the credit), the House approves a trillion dollars in spending- not for the bailout, but to expand the empire.

Previewing a McCain campaign message for the days ahead, top strategist Steve Schmidt claimed Sunday that Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is partly responsible for the tentative agreement on a mortgage bailout that congressional leaders announced shortly after midnight.
Schmidt was appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press” with David Axelrod, the Obama campaign’s chief strategist, who ridiculed the McCain claim as “a little bit of fiction.”
Obama, asked on CBS’s “Face the Nation” if McCain deserved credit for bringing lawmakers together, replied “No,” according to AP.
McCain himself was modest, saying on ABC’s “This Week” that congressional negotiators deserve “great credit” for the bipartisan deal. “”It wasn’t because of me,” McCain said. “They did it themselves.” Read the rest of this entry ?

Sarah Palin never had much hope of getting my vote, but when she told the Republican convention that special-needs children would have “a friend and advocate in the White House” in a McCain administration, I felt obliged to give her a hearing. God knows, kids with disabilities and their parents need powerful friends, so I even called my own special-needs daughter to the television to watch.
Unfortunately, the camera kept cutting to Palin’s snowmobiler “guy,” alternately cradling and brandishing the couple’s Down syndrome baby, who appeared to be fast asleep. At first I told myself that this might be a good thing – special education and physical therapy are scandalously under-funded in this country and some TV images of a cute Down syndrome baby might be just the thing to raise consciousness about the problem.
But something about the aggressive theatrics sparked another, quite unpleasant image in my mind. When I visited Hanoi in 1994, beggars, sometimes men, would confront me on the street carrying limp, lifeless-looking babies that looked as though they were on the verge of death, if not actually dead. I later learned that the babies were drugged into listlessness and that many of them were “rented” by the beggars for their daily rounds. I confess that I was so horrified by this tactic that I recoiled instead of giving them any money. How could anyone, no matter how desperate, use a baby in that way to get sympathy? Now, it goes without saying that I hate Rudy’s politics. BUT- watch how the Republicans play to their base just as fast as the Democrats run away from theirs. This is why they win elections-
Tina Fey PWNs John McCain as Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live?
