the SCRATCH: Breaking down the Obama- McCain debate

October 8, 2008

by Dennis Trainor, Jr (w/ Davis Fleetwood video below the fold) (recent SCRATCH

Declaring a winner and a loser in the debate that took place on Tuesday night is a bit like declaring a winner in a Circus. The idea is absurd.

Let’s take an issue like healthcare.

McCain will give you 5 thousand bucks, a pat on the back and go tell you to buy the plan that is right for you on the open market-

That’s like giving your child a quarter and telling them they can get whatever they want from the dollar store.

It’s child abuse.

Obama is going to allow-

                                                     I mean mandate

Those without insurance to buy into a plan similar to the one members of congress has.

MMMMMMM Great.

But if you allow
                                 I mean mandate

me to purchase a beach home in the Hamptons, it is going to do little to affect my ability to pay for said mansion. But this is more than punch lines for pundits.

Both “would-be” presidents know that 18000 Americans will die next year for lack of access to health insurance. That is 6 times the amount of people who died on 9/11. Sound like an emergency?

If this were an actual debate- inclusive to candidates who are on enough ballots to have a mathematical chance at earning enough electoral votes to win, Ralph Nader would have told the audience about a single payer system.

And when Tom Brokaw pressed Obama if healthcare was a right and Obama answered in the affirmative, Nader would have asked him what other rights granted to Americans are American allowed to
                                                 I mean mandated
to pay for?

At that point, a debate might have actually broken out.

Pickpockets, like the commission on presidential debates & the corporate media- distract you with one hand and fleece you with the other.

America- you’re being robbed. And you are going to pour to the polls in record numbers on election day and give thanks to one of these two pirates by giving them the only power you have in this whole process:

 your vote.

PT BARNUM was right- there is a sucker born every minute.

Don’t be a sucker. Vote different.

  1. I would like to offer you a little correction. It was David Hannum, one of P.T. Barnum’s competitor’s that said the now infamous quote “there’s a sucker born every minute”. Checking up on Wikipedia or Google searching it would have quickly revealed this information.
