THE CULTURE WARS: A cordial invitation

October 27, 2008

As a statement of solidarity with the lesbian and gay community, BRAD PITT has said that he will not marry Angelina Jolie until GAY MARRIAGE IS MADE LEGAL in the United States. Supporting Proposition 8 in California, Brad Pitt is taking a stand in the Culture War, what are you going to do? Join me, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Post your ideas on how we can re-ignite and win the cultural wars- a non-violent war of ideas that moves past political correctness and affects the behaviors and beliefs (one definition of culture) and pushes religious extremists to the fringes of society to wallow in the shadow of shame and embarrassment currently occupied by the followers of ZUES, men over 40 who play dungeons and dragons, and scientologists. Post your ideas in the comments. Ill take the best 3 ideas & make a follow up video- another STUDENT CHALLENGE, if you will.

Operation Itch produces The Hermit with Davis Fleetwood with viewer support. Your donations support this site. Enjoy the videos? Consider a donation. Thank you- D

  1. I don’t have a personal example of a POV on the notion of “Culture Wars” to offer at this time. (Besides I don’t look very good on camera – very short, overweight woman who is in serious need of dental work I can’t afford (pretty picture, right?!) – and appearance is everything in the US). However, I will say one thing I’m trying to get some interest in, in my local community (midwest) and would love to see more people doing is REAL stories about real people. Not the fluff bits you see on MSM or public television documentary clips for 30 seconds. But real stories that begin to expose whole groups of people in this country to other whole groups – about the real struggles and stories of their very neighbors, citizens, etc we share this portion of the planet with. Stories that dispel and derail stereotyping and make simple judgments on people’s character more difficult to make.

    Things like:

    All Jocks are stupid
    All beauty queens are shallow
    All welfare recipients are lazy
    All activists are idealistic morons
The the ‘American Dream’ is real or possible

Think there would be any interest in some REAL real Tee-Vee?

  2. Please, Operation Itch, help John Murphy’s congressional campaign.

Murphy has been endorsed by Mike Gravel, Ralph Nader, Howard Zinn, the local Green Party, Libertarian Party, and Reform Party. However, his campaign is almost 100% out of money and needs almost $8,000 over the next few days to run newspaper ads, radio ads, and 50,000 automated phone calls.

I would – and John would – appreciate it greatly if you did a post about him asking for donations and/or did a video about him asking for donations. What else is a real progressive MoveOn for, but helping real progressive candidates?

My email is inkabinkaboo182@aol.com if you want to contact me and John’s email is johnamurphy@comcast.net if you want to contact him.
